We get it, its about his dad, but that was his personal reason for writing the song, music is meant to be interpreted by the listener, Billie even said that people should look for their own meaning in the song, some people relate it to 9/11, some relate It to the loss of a loved one, some relate it to a break up, that doesn't make their interpretation any less valid, if music can reach you in a special or personal way then it has done its job
