How do You Mend A Broken Heart
My Daughters Car drove away with Her Dog looking back at Me
Returning to My House I went into My Garden
On the Lawn was a cheap Rubber Ball that We had been playing with
I picked it up and it Squeaked
It was the same kind of Ball that My own beloved Dog had played with on hot Summer's Days
He had died unexpectedly some years past on the long drive Home from Spain
It had broken My Heart but He had given Us everything in His
Loyalty endless willingness to Play
and the cheap Rubber Ball collapsed in My Hand
